Day 33 & 34 church and travel mostly

We went looking for Sunday Mass at St. Mary's by the Sea only to discover that the mass was several miles away, but there was an interdenominational service in a couple hours.  We wandered a large market in the park near the church and then ate breakfast - Chris had the most delicious French toast!

The church was destroyed in a typhoon, but restored as a historical site.  It's a very small wooden building with less than 100 seats; the wall behind the altar opens to the sea and a fantastic view. As many as 3 weddings a day are common during the peak season, and it is the funeral location all the locals choose.

The service was led by a family, mom was the presider, dad sings and daughter projects the words for all to follow.  To begin, a local introduced himself and asked all in attendance to do the same.  England, US, and an Aussie cruise ship provided the group. Very well done and lively service, lots of singing, a few scripture readings and a sermon.

We left for the bus to Cairns, 3 hour flight to Sydney, then overnight to Delhi.
